LENS CANDY: Sheila Arkee

"Here is a photo of Miss. Marlow Shriver, taken during a family photo session this past November at the Fullerton Arboretum. At age 4, Marlow is what only be described as a pure spark of light from heaven. She is precocious, completely adorable, and having studied America's Next Top Model quite extensively,  an absolute perfect model. This photo is one of my all-time favorites taken in my photography career. The combination of her sparkly hat and the delicious Southern California sunlight made for an unforgettable portrait."

Photo taken by Sheila Arkee of Arkeeology Photography.

We'd love to feature your favorite photo and the story behind the shoot. Send your submission to media@epiphaniebags.com. Please note "Lens Candy" in the subject line.

WORKSPACE // Tracy Allyn Photography

To keep creativity flowing, you need a proper space. A space that encourages you to thrive and produce your best work. With this in mind, we thought it would be fun to feature creative + stimulating workspaces here on our blog.

Our very first workspace feature is Studio Plus, a home studio for photographer Tracy Allyn Croysdale of Tracy Allyn Photography. Designed by her husband and architect Robert Croysdale, Tracy's studio was completed in February 2011.

Tracy writes, "Every morning I wake up and step in the space to edit it makes me happy. All new construction but attached to our home, it is only about 700 sq feet but perfect for me."

"The back wall is glass windows and door and there is a window above the blue chaise, I just have blackout roll down blinds on all the windows in the studio.  That way I can shoot natural light or with studio lighting. But it is great to have the windows open when I'm editing on cool days like today so I can hear my wind chimes and the birds."

What a beautiful, vibrant space! Thanks for sharing it with us, Tracy!

Do you have a unique photo studio or workspace? We'd love to feature it here on Have An Epiphanie! Send your photos to media@epiphaniebags.com.

WHERE DID YOU HAVE YOUR EPIPHANIE? // ITALY

In today's Where Did You Have Your Epiphanie? we join Melissa Shipley and her Black Lola as she journeys through Sorrento, Rome, Siena, Cinque Terre, Venice and beyond.

"Lola was perfect for the trip - especially after my Nikon blew a sensor on our first full day.  Luckily, we had brought along our digital point-and-shoot as a back-up.  I locked my Nikon and lenses in the hotel safe, rearranged the dividers in Lola, packed her full of guide books and water bottles, and had a great adventure!"

Melissa's five favorite highlights from her Italian adventure consisted of:

"1. Seeing ancient Rome. Maybe it is the art major in me, but finally being able to see the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Roman Forum in person was so satisfying.

2. Stepping inside the Sistine Chapel. I don't think that there is any way to prepare yourself for the feeling you get when you step into the Sistine Chapel.  It truly is amazing.
2b) I know this is sort of cheating, but standing in front of the Pieta inside of St. Peter's was equally humbling.

3. Visiting the island of Capri and the Blue Grotto. We took a day trip to Capri from Sorrento, and it was one of my favorite days of our vacation. The entire island of Capri is beautiful.

4. Hiking the Cinque Terre. We spent a full day hiking between towns on the Italian Riviera. The natural beauty there is amazing, but the towns themselves were the highlight for me. Each of the towns had their own unique vibe. Sadly, about two weeks after we left, a serious storm caused major mud slides in two of the towns. I hope that they are able to recover, and I hope to make it back there sometime in the future.

5) Getting lost in Venice. We went into Venice with no real itinerary - we just wanted to wander the streets and experience the city (and take pictures).  We had the worst map ever, and I am sort of thankful for that.  Just wandering the streets and discovering new canals or tiny shops made for a fabulous two days."
